In short
Kotha has no accounts and no email sign-up. We don't use tracking cookies. To keep chats safe, we do store what you type and some technical details, and moderators can read chats.
What we keep
- The nickname, gender and chat preference you choose, and your confirmation that you are 18 or older.
- Your IP address and a random id for your browser tab, so we can recognise reconnects and stop abuse.
- Every chat message, who it was sent to, and when.
- When you joined and left, and when each chat started and ended.
- If you pay to skip the line: the order and its status. Card or UPI details go to the payment provider (Razorpay), never to us.
Why we keep it
- To run the service: match you with someone, hold your seat if your connection drops, and manage the waiting line.
- To keep people safe: moderators watch chats live and review reports of spam, harassment or illegal content, and can remove or temporarily ban users.
- To meet legal obligations, including requests from law enforcement.
How long
Chat messages are deleted automatically after 180 days. Session, chat and payment records may be kept longer where the law requires it.
Who sees it
Your chat partner sees your nickname, gender and messages. Our moderators can see everything listed above. We don't sell your data or use it for advertising. We share it only with the services that run Kotha (hosting, database, payments) or when the law requires it.
On your device
We store one random id in your browser's session storage so a dropped connection can rejoin the same chat. It disappears when you close the tab.
